Staffing a large medical facility in today's healthcare labor market is a challenge, especially when it comes to competing for sometimes-scarce professional nursing personnel.

We are proud to be one of the only healthcare facilities of our size and complexity to have not used any nursing agency/pool (temp workers) in over 26 years. In our view, the introduction of temporary employees fractures the cohesiveness and effective skill level of the team providing health care services. Our staff benefits from our commitment to retention and team building—and we know that’s one critical aspect of providing consistent quality care.

We are also fortunate to be affiliated with the Shawsheen Valley Technical High School’s LPN training program. Bear Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has served as one of the program's Geriatric/Subacute clinical rotation sites for students for 18 years. Shawsheen Valley Technical High School—”Shawsheen Tech”—is located at 100 Cook Street, Billerica, MA 01821 and may be found online at http://www.shawsheentech.org/.
